The Harsh Truth That 4th Generation K-Pop Idols Must Accept!!!
1:4th Gen Will Have Some Of The Toughest Careers.
Idols of the 4th generation should pay attention to their individuality. both standards and competition are increasing. 4th gen will have some of the toughest careers as they have to or believe they have to live up to their senior’s reputation.
There is a growing average of members per group (especially for boys) and an overall increase in the number of groups starting each year (think of all the small companies girl groups that started this year).
But only a few are considered worthy to stand next to the successful 3rd gen groups. those few might be itzy, treasure, gidle, txt, and stray kids.
Almost none of them would ever get the Kpop 3rd generation level of popularity. The Hallyu wave hit just a few years before the kpop 4th generation, the 3 generation group had already gained the world's attention, so the focus was on them.
And they are still bands like BTS, Blackpink, Got7, Mamamoo, etc. They will be discussed more and more and in the spotlight, then TXT, Ateez, Itzy or G idle, etc.
4th gen will have a harder time being the brand ambassador for larger or more well-known companies as the third-gen has most of them in their pockets.
2:Kpop 4th Generation is More About Visual than Talent
Getting away from a few comments I've seen on this is that the kpop 4th generation is definitely more about visuals than the talent aspect of being an artist. If you go back and listen to groups like SHINee, EXO, Super Junior, etc…
The vocal talent is second to none, they are trained to be singers and when you listen to some of the new kpop 4th generations, these days, the voice doesn't' is not strong at all (this is also true for some third-generation groups).
Make no mistake, there are a few exceptions to the rule, but compared to the seniors, the 4th generation is definitely lacking in this area. I think over time, especially in future groups because of supply and demand (if you will), I don't think we're going to see the same level of talent there as most senior groups.
I think they won't train that long and will be pushed into the industry to make the money come for those companies. Ultimately, I think companies are just looking for the ones that are visually appealing to the public, rather than looking for someone who can hold a note.
3:Kpop 4th Generation Becoming Oversaturated.
The Kpop 4th genre is becoming oversaturated. Too many Groups debuting, too many similar concepts (especially girl groups), too many similar styles, similar MVs… just everything.
After you've watched enough MVs and listened to the songs, you can literally play most of the songs these Groups put out… It's the same formula.
I'm having such a hard time liking new kpop 4th Generation groups these days because I can literally name at least 5 3rd generation or earlier idols who did the exact same kind of songs…it's been 10 years...
4:Most Idols Are Popular just because of Previous Popular Idols.
Most idols are only popular cuz the idols before they were example BTS-TXT-Enhypen, Twice-Itzy-NiziU, Aespa-Every SM Group, 2ne1-BP-New YG Girl Group...
Keep in mind that they all come from companies whose names are known to most kpop fans. Personally, I think Ateez and Loona should have made this list, but Kpop Stans, especially in Korea, don't seem that interested.
To succeed, you need a LOT of talent and visuals, and even that won’t confirm popularity. see, a group like Everglow has a great aesthetic, fun and pretty and talented members, and good comebacks. but there have also been some problematic issues around them (mia’s overshadowing, the autotune in bonbon Chocolat, the views-buying). so they’re fairly popular, but not at the level of itzy.
So that's it for today and all of the things written above are just my opinion about KPop 4th Gen. what I think. The Harsh Reality that 4th Generation Kpop Idols Have to accept.
